Obama Administration's Proposed Budget Is Pandering for Votes From the Socialist Leaning Masses

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Over the years, I've been completely critical of various presidents and their proposed budgets. It seems to be a trick of the executive branch to put in budget proposals for all of the voting groups, and all of the major industries, even if the proposed budget is completely out of line with reality. Then the president in question, whether it be this one, the last one, or the three before that can always blame the U.S. Congress for not passing their budget, and tell all the voters in all those various industries and voting block groups that is not their fault, that they were going to bat for them, and that they were on their side.

Still, this sort of pandering for votes is rather alarming, and when President Obama put forth his most recent budget I noted that it was $1.3 trillion above and beyond the total amount of money that the federal government expected to collect from the US taxpayer. That's not a budget, that's not helping America, and if this is some store of a stealth stimulus package to keep the economy going strong until President Obama can get reelected, it really shows a disdain for the obligations of leadership in the highest office in the land, and the leader of the free world. I am not amused, I am not impressed, and I am highly troubled by this type of political pandering.

We cannot keep blowing money on nonsensical things and expect the Federal Reserve to continually take stuff off of one side of their balance sheet and carefully place it on the other. If businesses or corporation did that they would be jailed for fraud. Our federal government, and specifically the executive branch is forcing the Federal Reserve to engage in this sort of activity. Further, the reason that our economy is not firing on all cylinders right now is quite simple. It's because our federal government has grown too large, and is stifling free enterprise at every turn with abusive power grabs, infringing regulations, and crony capitalism.

Socialism is wrong for America and a populist president engaging in socialist behavior promising the masses things which the government cannot afford, and should not afford will destroy America if we let it. We are proud nation, a strong nation, and we should be a fiscally responsible country. We ask our citizens to be responsible with their finances, and our government should do the same. Our federal government's number one job is to protect the American people all this other nonsense may sound good, but we are making industries weak with corporate welfare, and we are making our citizens weak with social welfare. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on.

Finding Work in the Post Obama Era: How to Create a New Career After Fifty

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

There are so many American workers that are over the age of 50, that are looking for work after the Obama election era. Yet, they are not ready for retirement. Most are too young for social security. Some are still healthy, vibrant, experienced and have tons to offer in the workforce. But, let's look at what really happened. Yes, we had a housing market crisis and many mid-level managers and middle-class workers got laid off or their jobs were eliminated altogether. When did corporations decide that the workers over 50 years old were not useful any longer? They certainly can't collect a social security check for years. What happened to the mature workforce? Where are they now?

During your job search after 50, you might think it's just you. You don't want to believe that you're not being hired because of your particular age group. But the numbers bear out something totally different. When over 50 workers go out to find other work, they're asked to fill-out a verification form or a simple form that allows the company to check a credit report. What's the second thing that they ask you for after you sign your name, it's your birth date? It looks extremely innocent and it seems like it's about checking your credit or for job verification purposes. But, is it really being used for that purpose or is it being used to invalidate people over 50 that might be seen to have health problems or demand more money.

One job board listed good jobs that paid well over $55,000 a year. But they were seeking candidates with 2-3 years of experience. If you only have 2-3 years of experience couldn't they hire a person for $45,000--probably so. If they just graduated from college, a new graduate would be happy to take $45,000 annually to start paying back their student loans. Right!

If the verification is for the purpose of learning their ages then are companies trying to eliminate worker's that are more likely to cost the company more in health premiums. We have to look at those angles. Because if the company can save millions on premiums to insurance companies by cutting older workers out of the pool vs. hiring younger workers that are rarely sick and premiums are much lower-who wouldn't want that deal? What's amazing is that no one is writing about this or talking about this. Is it discriminatory to hire based on age. Or did that law get pushed to the back burner? Does age discrimination exist in the post Obama election era?

It makes perfect sense that when you call the Human Resources department, or they call you, they're listening for cues in your voice about what you have to say regarding your work experience. If your work experience is noted back 20 years and you mention that you graduated in 1970, then you have just solicited your age. Any resume book will tell you never ever mention high school graduation. If your college degree is outdated they say you might not want to mention dates for that either. The best advice is to visit the local library and start reading all of the updated books they have about resume writing for today's job market.

The competition in the workforce is fierce. Especially when you want a job that pays over $50,000 dollars a year, which is over the poverty level. Companies might not want to pay a 50 something worker that type for money for old and outdated skills. If you don't know the computer it's even worse. What if you don't have a profile on LinkedIn, does that indicate that you really have old-fashioned propensities. It could indicate that you're not comfortable online. I've known people over 50 that don't use Facebook or Twitter. They're very uncomfortable with social media highways.

Use of social media networks can be seen as for the Next Generation bka the post Obama generation work force. Although not one media outlet has touched on the subject, the dirty little secret is out there. Jobs are checking ages prior to hiring. Depending on how you format and state the skills on your resume-you might have told your whole life story-only to learn you're not seen as eligible for the job based on your age. Due to the rise in healthcare premiums they're checking to see what age group you might fall; in order not to have to pay higher monthly premiums. If you're 25 years old--premiums are normally allot less expensive.

If you're running into that type of dilemma and you feel discouraged-keep going. It'll get better over time. Once in a while you might need to take a break from the job hunt if you're feeling frustrated. Like one famous person said, "nothing beats a failure but a try." Read a book about positive career change or reinventing yourself for a new career goal. The book, "What Color Is Your Parachute," is another great resource for recreating a new mission for your job search. Older workers have to find their second niche in life after the big fifty. It can be beneficial to find work you've always wanted to do--for fun more than monetary reasons. Good luck in your job search.

Global Warming Tricks Destroying Our Energy Security - Intervention By EPA and Obama Administration

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Not long ago, someone actually told me that Global Warming Theory was a fact. In case you don't know what the theory is - it is defined as; Humankind's emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases are causing the planet to heat up. In other words, Global Warming is not just that the planet ambient temperatures are heating up in our atmosphere (which hasn't exactly been proven either), but that it is occurring because of humans. To say that this theory has been proven, decided, or rendered as fact is completely false. Okay so, let's talk shall we?

On March 28, 2012 there was a troubling piece which flew across my environmental socialist" radar screen, yet another breach of our airspace with income bombers dropping yet another round on our energy security, and it's the White House letting them do it. The EPA is bomber and the Obama Administration is their command and control - metaphorically speaking of course. The article I read was on CFACT (Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow) titled; "Obama EPA enacts cap-and-trade agenda," which stated;

"In its latest move to drive up the cost of energy to consumers, businesses, and manufacturers, the Obama EPA March 27 issued a final CO2 cap on emissions from electric utilities. EPA's action will effectively ban the construction of new coal-fired power plants and likely cause rolling blackouts."

Indeed, that is a very fair assessment. The article also noted that the new restrictions for CO2 Output are just a little lower than the best current technology can produce. While the Obama Administration works on funding through the DOE all sorts of nonsensical solar and wind schemes, even biomass, they have fallen short on funding research on clean coal technology.

For me, this seems rather bizarre considering our energy sector where coal is the dominant source in energy generations, which produces CO2 as an output - that we should be collecting the CO2 and use it to make future technology - carbon composites, carbon nano-tubes, and graphene coatings to build better and more efficient homes thus using less energy, and stronger and lighter transportation devices which would use less fuel.

Now then, to set the limits of CO2 output from coal fired plants to a point beyond the current clean-coal technology, all the while denying funding for such technology, and yet pushing taxpayers monies to alternative energy technologies which are unreliable and/or too costly to produce seems almost a planned attack on the energy sector. Why are we worried about terrorists when we are allowing our own government to terrorize the industry into submission of pie-in-the-sky cap-and-trade schemes? Something is amiss. Please consider all this and think on it.

Would Obama Be a Good Tour Guide?

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

On my business trip to Beijing, China, I took a couple of half day tours to see some of the famous tourist attractions the city has to offer. On one of these excursions, our tour guide was Lisa (English names make it easier for everybody to communicate). We saw the Forbidden city, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace. They were all beautiful places, however, at the end most of us wished we saw them under different circumstances.

It started out with the confusion of who is taking our tour versus another one. As the buses collect the tourists in the morning, they pick everybody up from each hotel regardless of their destination. At one point they meat up and sort it out who goes where. Lisa forgot to discuss this with us so as the tourists asked each other what their destination was they started panicing and asking her questions. That is when she realized she had forgotten something.

Half of our group was tourists from different parts of China, the other half a very diverse group of people from all around the world. Lisa started complaining from the beginning that it will be very difficult for her to handle the situation.

As we started touring the Forbidden city, Lisa provided very little information regarding what we were seeing. She kept rushing ahead and made faces if someone got behind. Then some people started missing. Others in the group helped out so those can find the group again. As she got angry, she started complaining and tried to blame those who could not find the group. She communicated even less with the group as her resentment grew. As it was less obvious what the plan was, people started to get separated from the group even more. Sometimes we had to wait twenty minutes or more before we could get reunited. As the cycle got worse and worse she did not try to change her method, instead, she started blaming more people. She turned the Chinese half of the group against the foreigners, as she convinced them that it was all their fault. It may have seen like a legitimate reason except more and more "Chinese friends" started missing as well. I could also compare the situation to tours that I took on previous days. I do not remember a single person ever missing. I learned a lot about what I was seeing and never even felt rushed.

On the way back to the hotel! I was thinking how bad of a leader she was. After all, her primary job was to lead us through these famous places so that we have a problem free, nice day. She certainly failed every leadership attributes that exist.

Every good leader knows that communication is very important. Good leaders do not blame others, since they know that 99% of problems are their fault. Instead, they inspire, unite and adopt as circumstances change.

As I thought about how Lisa could have done a better job, I realized how similar these issues are to what we are facing in the US. President Obama came in as a person who will make everything better. However, as time went by and the economy did not improve, he started blaming everybody else for it. It was the Tsunami, the Arab Spring, Europe, the republicans, etc. just like Lisa, the president did not and could not change course. Instead he is setting up a stronger and stronger rhetoric to divide the population along racial, gender and economic lines.

So my answer to the question is a resounding no. Obama would be a terrible tour guide just like Lisa would be a terrible president. Even though on a different scale but the same leadership principles apply in both cases. The lack of those qualities lead to disastrous results. Although I can always just go back to Beijing and revisit those places. However, unlike the tour, millions of Americans cannot get their lost opportunities, their lost dreams back. Mr. President you should have practiced on a smaller group first like a small group of tourists.

On the way back to our hotels, Lisa handed out evaluation forms, that her company requires. It allows the tourists to give feedback on the experience they had. As Lisa handed out the forms she stood over every person, one by one and demanded that we all included a positive feedback regarding her performance. We all cowered and followed her demands rather than face the uncomfortable consequences. This election we will also have a chance to give a feedback to Mr. Obama. First of all I hope nobody will be looking over our shoulder and telling us what to say on the ballot. Secondly, I hope that we will have more courage and we will really tell the President what we think about his performance.

The President's Job Council - Hard Work, Crony Capitalism, Or A Substitute for Replacing Obama?

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Yes, we all want more jobs and the America People have made that quite clear. Still, it seems rather crazy that we would believe that the government could actually create jobs in the free market. We know the government can create government jobs, but most of us don't want any higher taxes, nor do we want more government to control our daily lives.

What amazes me is that politicians can sit up in a podium, and promise the American people that if they are elected, they will ensure that jobs are created in America. There is no basis for that, they can't create jobs by expanding government, the only way to really create a net new number of jobs is to reduce the size of government, reduce the regulations, reduce the taxes, and get out of the way.

The Council on Foreign Relations recently had an interesting interview panel discussion on the most pressing issues of 2012 with regards to jobs. There is a YouTube Video of this I believe which was titled; "President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness Discussion," with a caption which stated;

"President Obama formed the Council on Jobs as a source of non-partisan advice and differing perspectives for the purpose of bolstering the economy through fostering job creation, innovation, growth, and competitiveness. At this meeting, experts discuss the Council's work and recommendations," and the Speaker line-up was pretty impressive actually;

Ellen Kullman
Robert Wolf
Jeffrey Zients
Garrick Utley

Now then, no one is going to knock a group of industry professionals from the real world working to help create jobs. In fact, I'm glad to see it and believe the Obama Administration is severely lacking in truly qualified folks with real-world, not merely academic experience. Nevertheless, I do question the coziness of such relationships. It's not that everyone close to government or the executive branch doesn't get some juice from being there, and it probably looks stellar on a resume even if it happened to be a less-than-competent President at the time - but I do have some thoughts on all this and some unanswered questions, so let me begin with my major comments here.

You see, I question a group of business people getting into bed with a crony capitalist populist socialist-leaning president. Rather, it might be best for all concerned to fire said crony capitalist president, reduce regulations, stop the incestuous relationship that Adam Smith warned us about and let everyone compete using our free-market capitalism motif. We would all be better off and we wouldn't need a jobs council at the White House, as we'd have full-employment and the opposite crisis - not enough labor to fulfill those jobs. See that point? Indeed, I ask that you please consider all this and think on it.
